STEP Alumni Conference

October 18, 2025

Welcome to the 2025 STEP Alumni Conference:

Rooted and Rising: Teaching with Purpose in Times of Change

Our 8th annual alumni conference is designed to facilitate your engagement with other STEP alumni who are actively contributing to systemic change in education. This event will also provide opportunities to connect and network with other educators in the field, fostering connections with colleagues from your cohort and beyond. We aim to enhance your experience by supporting your personal journeys while encouraging active participation in current educational discourse.

This year's theme is Rooted and Rising: Teaching with Purpose in Times of Change.

STEP enthusiastically welcomes this year's keynote speaker, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond, to speak on teacher education in California and the role teachers can play in current times.

What do we sense our field is losing and gaining as outside forces impact it?  What new possibilities might emerge when we imagine together, grounded in our shared expertise and lived experiences?   Come with curiosity and a story to tell. Leave with more clarity on the collective view. Before we fix, let鈥檚 share stories, listen, and imagine together.
